The World Through the Eyes of Me.

Do I love you, my oh myyyyyyyyy.....

I don't really watch a lot of TV because well, who the hell has the time to? If I do watch TV, it's either because I'm watching Dancing with the Stars to root for Hines Ward and to hear Len Goodman yell "SEV-ANNNNNNNNNNNN", American Idol because I was totally rooting for James Durbin aka "The Durbs" to win, and last but certainly not least, Glee.

Now, as most of you out there in TV Land know, there was a big controversy on American Idol because Pia Toscano was voted off pretty early and everyone thought she was a top contender. Pia sang mostly power ballads (think Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, etc.. ) but the judges kept urging her to change it up and sing something more upbeat. This is where I have problems with Ms. Toscano. While I admire her for trying to tackle "River Deep Mountain High" by Tina Turner, I can't help but compare it to when it was performed on Glee. Poor Pia was so lost in that song. Sorry judges, I know Scotty McCreery is allowed to be a one trick pony on the show, but you should have let Pia be one as well. Telling her to do more upbeat songs was a terrible idea!

Now for the real test. I want to know what you think. After watching these videos below, who do you think tackled the song the best? Will it be Glee or Pia? Or, do you think no one can top Tina Turner? I'll let you be the judge by taking the poll at the bottom of the website.

Pia Goes Upbeat...

Glee's Got the Moves (sorry for the foreign captions, couldn't find a normal video)

Thanks for reading and voting! Stop by again!

Long awaited...

So, sorry it's taken me forever to actually post something, I get side tracked pretty easily. Anyways, a lot of stuff has been going on so I'll break it down for you, event by event.

If God is Willing and the Creek Don't Rise
I recently watched the above titled documentary about New Orleans and the effects that Hurricane Katrina and the oil spill had on the city and MAN, was I ever in the dark. It really got me thinking that I honestly don't do enough to help the areas of our country who are struggling and I now have a new found respect for the people who have made an impact on the New Orleans area. This documentary also taught me something I didn't know about FEMA. When FEMA produced trailers for people effected by the hurricane to live in, they
manufactured these trailers with FORMALDEHYDE in them because they were too concerned with mass producing quickly instead of checking to make sure these already suffering people wouldn't suffer even more. Maintenance workers were going
to these trailers to fix problems and were seeing children coughing and with runny noses and no one knew WHY this was happening. It
breaks my heart to think about the long term effects some of these families might have to endure because FEMA cut corners.

Las Vegas, NV
For my birthday this year, Dane took me to VEGAS BABY VEGAAAAASSS!! Vegas consists of three main things. Booze, hookers and gambling. You really don't need more than four days to check out everything. Anything longer than that and you might die of exhaustion. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel off of the main strip. The Hard Rock had a wide array of musical memorabilia scattered throughout the hotel, from Aerosmith to Katy Perry. It was a really nice hotel, but the nicest thing of it was no doubt the pool. The Hard Rock pool consists of five different pools all in one. From what we heard during our stay in Vegas, the Hard Rock throws the best pool parties on Sunday. Sunday? That seems odd to me to throw a raging party on a Sunday, but hey, it's Vegas, and nothing there is normal. Parts of Vegas smell like a port-o-john, but I would say that's from all the bums lining the streets with signs that say "need money for beer". Hey, at least they are honest. We definitely want to go back soon so we can see some of the stuff we missed on our trip.

Growing a pair.......of wings...
While on my trip in Vegas, I discovered an odd lump on my shoulder. Naturally, I freaked out assuming the worst, because I'm a woman and we exaggerate pretty much everything. After seeing an Orthopedic surgeon, it was determined that I have a lipoma (fatty cyst) growing on the top of my shoulder blade. I'll be having it removed next week. I like to think it's an angel wing, but that doesn't really make sense considering I'm only growing one. I must be an awkward angel, but an angel none the less.

Sidney Crosby Speculation
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the supposed return of Sidney Crobsy. Will he return and play in the playoffs, or will he wait until next season? In my personal opinion, (which is exactly what it is, my personal opinion) Crosby won't return for the playoffs. Why would he? He's the best center in the NHL and if he wants to take his time and recover, that is FINE WITH ME. Go ahead and get better so you can dominate the ice next season. The Pens could use him, sure, but we made it to the playoffs just fine without him. Plus, once he gets back on the ice, he's going to want to play at 200% and show that he is in tip top shape and prove himself. Why would we want to rush that sort of recovery just to risk some goon from another team take advantage of his weakness and slam him into the boards just to get even more hurt? It makes sense for him to take his time. So, I wish you a steady, not speedy recovery Mr. Crosby.

So, that's all I got for now. I'll write some more whenever I can find the time. Feel free to leave your comments and thoughts below, just leave your snarkiness at the door.

PEACE, Carmen.

Hello Out There!!!

I've been looking for a way to get back into writing more, so I figured a blog might be a good place to start. I'll probably just end up ranting and raving about nothing so get used to some ridiculous pieces.

So yeah, I look forward to hopefully entertaining and intriguing you. Tootles!
